Green Sherpas

At Student Sherpas, we share a passion for the environment. And we wanted to bring that passion to our company. We believe that with business comes responsibility, and with responsibility comes opportunity. We take our opportunity very seriously.

That's why our business model is one of efficiency. Why have parents driving in from hours away, packing their cars and trucks full and making the haul back home, only to do the same thing three months later? Most of the stuff won't leave the box anyway. Why not keep those cars and trucks off the road, keep the gas in the tanks, and let Student Sherpas keep everything in a local storage unit?

We have potential to suck unnecessary carbon emissions out of the move-in/move-out process, doing our part to keep the air a bit cleaner and chip away at our dependence on oil. We realize we are just one company - and a small one at that - and so we try not to take ourselves too seriously. But we do think everyone should do their part; and that's why we also offset our own carbon emissions with reforestation credits and contribute to Patagonia's 1% for the Planet Fund.

Carbon Off-sets

As described above, the services offered by Student Sherpas takes the carbon emitted by the moving in and out of students and consolidates it into a neater, smaller package. Once in that package, Student Sherpas can calculate their carbon footprint and neutralize it. Simply put, a Carbon offset is a way to negate CO2 emissions. There are a number of ways to do this; our plan centers on reforestation.

1% for the Planet

In addition to our Carbon offsets, we are proud members of Patagonia's 1% For the Planet. Patagonia is a outdoor-gear manufacturer that has been at the front lines of socially responsible business for years. Through this innovative fund, they have encouraged hundreds of business to donate 1% of their profits for environmental causes.

We hope all students will consider these and other options for protecting our planet as they go on to start their own ventures. For any and all questions concerning our environmental policy, please contact us.
