A Few Tips to Get You Started

  1. Procrastination is a fool's game
Packing a year's worth of stuff can take longer than you might expect. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to be all packed up when we come to collect your boxes.
  2. Label, label, label...
For storage items each box should be labeled with your name, the address the items will be delivered to IN THE FALL, and an incremental item count of your items (the first box out of four would be 1/4, the second would be 2/4, etc...)
For shipping items: each box should be labeled with your name, the shipping address, and an incremental item count. We will give you as many labels as you need, just let us know.
  3. Electronics and fragile items
All electronics and fragile items must be in their original packaging if they are to be insured. Unfortunately, we are unable to insure them otherwise.
  4. Refrigerators
Make sure you defrost and clean your fridge at least 24 hours before pickup. You'd be surprised at how long a bad smell can stay with a fridge-and you're much better off taking our word for it, rather than having to explain to your new roommate why the dorm smells like old gym socks ever since those Sherpa guys brought that fridge back.
  5. Disperse your heavy items evenly
A fee will be assessed for extra heavy packages. We want to avoid this as much as you do (we are too young to have sore backs!). So if you have heavy items like text-books, wet bags of sand, or cinderblocks, try to disperse them evenly among your boxes.
  6. Don't skimp on packing material
We recommend no less than two inch barrier of protective packaging material between your items and the box. (Old newspaper makes for great cushioning)
