About Us
Student Sherpas was founded by two seniors at the University of Maryland in response to a problem faced by college students everywhere. Each year as summer rolls around and student housing closes, students find themselves with too much stuff to take home: furniture, television sets, clothing, appliances, etc. At Emory, this is an especially large problem for the 73% of students who live out of state. From among this population, many are international students, for whom the options are even further limited.
Many students throw out perfectly functional stuff. Others seek out private storage, which, when procured on an individual basis, can be costly. Some even drive long distances with their stuff in tow, which is not only expensive but dramatically increases Emory's carbon footprint.
Student Sherpas offers an alternative that reduces the hassle, the cost, and the carbon footprint for Emory students. We provide large-scale, safe, insured, temperature-controlled storage and offer it to Emory students at a far better rate than what they would be able to get on their own. We pick up the students' stuff during finals and drop it off again at the end of the break. We even throw in the boxes and the tape! Through Patagonia's 1% for the planet fund, we contribute a portion of our profits to Patagonia's reforestation effort, further offsetting the carbon footprint of Emory's move out process.
Nir Levy and Ari Frankel are pleased to bring Student Sherpas to Emory University by working side by side with the founders of the company themselves.
Ari Frankel is a freshman at the college who has no idea what to study! When he's not lifting boxes, you can find him hanging out on the rock wall (get it?) or chilling with friends around campus. He loves music, Wes Anderson movies, and DUC food (not).Nir Levy was born in Jerusalem and has since moved four times between Israel and the US. When he's not analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of various duct tape brands, Nir develops websites and enjoys photography (check him out in the Emory Wheel).
