About Us
We founded Student Sherpas in the winter 2008, during our senior year at the University of Maryland. The reason was simple: we saw a problem on campus, and we wanted to solve it. Each year, at the end of the spring semester UMD students were left with too few options when deciding what to do with all of their belongings over the summer. As a result, parents would have to make the long drive to campus, often from out-of-state, load up their cars and trucks, and turn right back around and head home - only to make the same trip again three months later. Meanwhile, most of the stuff that was brought home never came out of the box it was packed in.
It was wasteful, inefficient, and an annual annoyance for both students and parents alike. This all changed with the launch of Student Sherpas. By providing affordable, convenient, and easy-to-use shipping and storage services with free pick-up and delivery, we have given the campus community another option - a better option. We rent the trucks, we provide the boxes, and we do all the heavy lifting. The customer never lifts a finger! Parents can stay home, the gas stays in the tank, and everything gets stored away safely just a mile off of campus.
